Abstract (Max 200 words)
Purpose: To assess clinical outcomes and subjective experience after unilateral implantation of a diffractive trifocal intraocular lens (IOL) following phacoemulsification in unilateral cataract.
Methods: : in this retrospective case series a trifocal IOL AT LISA tri 839 MP (carl zeisss meditec) was implanted in 11eyes of 11 patients after phacoemulsification for unilateral cataract .patients were evaluated for distance, intermediate and near visual acuity in 1month,3months and 2years postoperatively and were assessed for monocular, binocular contrast sensitivity with CVS1000 in 2 years postoperation. patient satisfaction was evaluated using visual functioning questionnaire 25 at 2 years after surgery.
Results: six males and five females with a mean age 50.5 years(34-70years) were included.at 2 years mean uncorrected distance visual acuity was 0.021 ± 0.037 LOGMAR and uncorrected intermediate viasul acuity was 0.018 ±0.045 LOGMAR and uncorrected near visual acuity was 0.022 ±0.045 LOGMAR in the operated eye.contrast sensitivity was similar between the operated and fellow eye.patients were satisfied when evaluated by VFQ.
Conclusion: in this study The unilaterally implanted trifocal IOL produced good distant, intermediate and near visual acuity. Patients were satisfied with their uncorrected near vision and performance of visual function.
