Abstract (Max 200 words)
Purpose:
Herein we describe the surgical technique of corneal inlay implantation in a femtosecond laser–assisted intrastromal pocket for treatment of high astigmatism and hyperopia.
Methods:
In this case report we describe the surgical procedure of cornea inlay and donor corneal preparation using a Femtosecond lasersystem (ZIEMER FEMTO LDV Da Vinci ™ , Switzerland). The thickness and diameter of the donor were 200µm and 8.00mm, respectively. The pocket was created at 150-μm depth with adiameter of 9.50-mm in the recipient cornea using the same Femtosecond laser system.
Results:
One month after the procedure, astigmatism and hyperopia were decreased by 5.00and 3.00 diopters, respectively
Conclusion:
Femtosecond laser–assisted pocket creation for the implantation of corneal inlays offers accuracy of pocket parameters, enhancingpredictability, resulting in better final outcomes and improving the safety of the procedure, and at the same time provides new treatment options to the surgeon.
